About

Kristine Crump

I am originally from Hamilton, Ontario. I graduated from Mohawk College with a nursing degree in 1996, and I completed my bachelors of nursing from the University of Victoria in 2012. In 1997, I moved to Texas to pursue a job opportunity, and I eventually landed in Austin in 2001.  I completed my NASM personal training certification in 2018 and the NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) certification in 2019.

My interest in fitness began when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease as a teenager. After years of struggling with symptoms, I began to workout and eat healthier. These changes had a huge impact on my condition and I have not been back to the hospital as a patient since 2009. I truly believe that maintaining an active lifestyle with a balanced diet will continue to serve me well throughout my lifetime.

At my nursing job, we are often left to deal with the consequences of disease, many of which are preventable and related to a sedentary lifestyle. The CDC estimates that 80% of deaths from heart disease and strokes are attributable to preventable conditions like obesity and poor physical activity. Obesity is also a leading risk factor for diabetes, cancer, joint replacement surgery, and many other life-changing conditions. I want to give people the tools to make fitness and healthy eating a part of their normal routine so that they can improve their quality of life and stave off morbidity. An ounce of prevention truly is worth a pound of cure.

I truly believe that fitness is to be enjoyed! The beauty of it is that you get to choose your own fitness adventures and the options are endless. My workout philosophy entails balancing cardiovascular conditioning with strength training while consuming the proper diet to meet individual goals. Strength training helps prevent injury, burn calories, and promote muscle tone. Cardiovascular conditioning increases stamina and bolsters weight loss. The proper diet is essential to trimming unwanted fat and increasing lean muscle mass. Without a doubt, all of these elements combined will increase overall health and improve quality of life.
